Sandown, New Hampshire – John D. Park, 83, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Lawrence General Hospital following a long illness and was surrounded by his loving family.
John was a Methuen resident for 67 years and had moved to Sandown where his family resided for the past 16 years.
He was the son of Hugh and Elizabeth (Morrison) Park. John’s working career began as the self-employed owner of East End Atlantic, in Methuen, and service manager at Park-Hegarty Porsche Audi in Lawrence. He retired from the AGFA Corporation of Wilmington, MA, where he was employed for thirteen years.
During the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army and received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal upon being honorably discharged.
John was a former member of the Methuen Board of Trade, member of the Arnold Greenwood Post 8349 (VFW), and enjoyed woodworking and saltwater fishing for striped bass. He loved traveling with his wife Joan and was a good family man.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years; Joan M. (Green) Park and children: Gary and wife Brenda, John Jr., Stephen Park, Marybeth Park, Kathleen and husband Keith Richardson, Christopher Park, and Heather and her husband Brian Lane, one sister Ruth and her husband William Welsh, one brother Arthur and wife Phyllis Park, 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Ian, Andrea, Ashley, Sarah, Hannah, Thompson, and Audrey, 6 great-grandchildren: Ian Jr., Jukka, Vincent, Jaiden, Gavin, and Gemma, and several nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his grandson David Park.
Friends will be warmly received on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
